Joseph Nelson Lillard

Joseph Nelson Lillard (Joe), age 79, of Frisco, Texas peacefully went to be with his Savior on December 2, 2016. He was born on August 2, 1937 to Willie Mae (Ingram) and Vernice Lee “V.L. Buck” Lillard in Franklin, Kentucky. Joe was a multi-faceted man.  He served in the Kentucky National Guard, was a race car driver, diner owner, real estate developer, orange farmer and for over thirty-five years worked as an airline pilot for Eastern, Delta, and his favorite as a 747 Captain with Pan American World Airways.  Since retirement one could easily find Joe at any one of several North Dallas Starbucks on most weekdays and at Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Friends and Followers class on Sundays. 

Joe is survived by his five children: Cindy Krebs and Chris, her husband, of  Bowling Green, Kentucky; Pamela Ledford of Greenville, South Carolina; Leslie McReynolds and David, her husband, of Keller, Texas; Brian Lillard and Linda, his wife, of Frisco, Texas and Craig Lillard and Lynda, his wife of Frisco, Texas; twelve grandchildren: Courtney and Chad Krebs, Heather Molnar and Bradley Ledford, Carson McReynolds, Lyndsay Gilbert, Shelby McReynolds, Katherine, Nelson, and Allison Lillard, and Mai-Linh and Riley Lillard;  two great-grandchildren: Thomas Jameson and Matthew Beauregard Gilbert. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae and V.L. Buck Lillard and brother, James “Bud” Milton.  

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75093, on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Charles Hebert officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Joe’s honor to the National Parkinson Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
