On Friday, July 28, 2023, Joseph Wilson, husband, father, and friend of many, went to be with the Lord at the age of 57 in Allen, Texas. Joe was a member of Cottonwood Creek Church where he volunteered in the youth ministry and enjoyed the fellowship of other Christians.
Joe was born on August 31, 1965, in Springfield, Illinois to Kenneth and Marilyn Wilson. Joe attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Griffin High School and was a 1983 graduate of Ursuline Academy. In 1987, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Joe was a registered Certified Public Accountant and completed numerous other certifications during his career including Certified Treasury Professional and Chartered Financial Analyst. He was an alumnus of Ernst & Young and held prominent positions at Conagra, Household International, and Aramco. Always wanting to give back to the community, Joe volunteered at many church and community sponsored events, served in the youth ministries, and was a member of the Board of Directors of several local charities.
Joe will forever be remembered for his quiet compassion, loving personality, and servant leadership. He loved to travel with his family whom he enjoyed many cruises with, journeys exploring National Parks, and adventures in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Joe is survived by his wife and soulmate Gina Mahoney-Wilson; children, Nathan Mahoney and wife Adrianna, Grant Mahoney, and Stephanie Mahoney, all of Allen Texas; brother, Douglas Wilson and wife Letitia of Austin, Texas; sisters, Kathleen and husband Jon Holcomb of Athens, Illinois; Mary and husband Jim Gott of Riverton, Illinois; nephews, Robert Scott and Jeremey Holcomb; niece Kendra; daughter Josephine; and son, Andrew.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2023, at Cottonwood Creek Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or National Alliance on Mental Illness.
