Dr. Joseph E. Johnson, born September 28, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas. A beloved and dedicated husband, loving and supportive father, compassionate physician and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2006 with his family by his side. Joe Ed was raised in San Angelo, Texas. He was a graduate of Baylor University and University of Texas, Medical Branch in Galveston. Met and married his true love Joyce in San Francisco when serving in the Army. He worked as a family practice physician in Kansas City, Missouri and was a Charter Member of Hillcrest Covenant Church. An awesome family man who enjoyed physical activities such as cycling, distance running and mountaineering. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Joe Ed is survived by his loving wife, Joyce L. Johnson, Frisco, Texas; children, Janine and Jon Maupin, Frisco, Texas, Jim and Sandy Johnson, Lafayette, Colorado, and Jeri and Vaughn Brock, Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren; brother, Marshall and Hazel Johnson, Fredricksburg, Texas; sister, Jerre Nord, Lenoir, North Carolina; five nephews and one niece. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Hillcrest Covenant church, 8801 Nail Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas 66207 with a reception to follow after the service. The family request that donations be made in Dr. Johnson’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
