IN LOVING MEMORY

Joseph Gregory “Greg” Provost

Oct 09 1949 - May 18 2024

On May 18th, 2024, Joseph Gregory “Greg” Provost passed away at the age of 74 surrounded by his siblings, children, and grandchildren.  He was a very caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.

Greg was born on October 9, 1949 in Orange, Texas to Charles Luke Provost and Hattie Anne Provost.  He was the second youngest of nine siblings.  Through his formative years, he lived throughout the SE Texas Golden Triangle. During this time Greg built an incredible bond with his siblings, a bond that continued to strengthen until his last breath.

Greg went to Bridge City High School.  Shortly afterwards he moved to Houston.  His life also brought him to live in Saint Louis and Atlanta but, he couldn’t stay away from Houston for too long until he finally settled in Melissa Texas.

He could be described as having never met a stranger. Greg could instantly make a friend and lived for the moment.  He adored his family and friends. Greg lived to lift those in his life up, either by making them laugh or being there to help them in a moment’s notice.  One of his favorite past times was watching the Astros, especially when he could talk about it or watch it with family.  Playing cards also topped the list of his hobbies, but if he wasn’t doing that or watching baseball, Greg was hunting for great deals in estate sales and auctions.

He leaves behind a daughter, Melissa Brem of Melissa, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John and Claire Provost of Vidor, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Provost and Jenny Tran of Muscat, Oman; grandchildren, Ethan Brem, Owen Brem, Wylie Brem, Sara Brem, Levi Brem, Micah Brem, James Provost, Melanie Conners, Courtney Beverlin, River Provost, Zoe Provost and Jackson Provost; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Astrid, Emily, Elana and Levi; sister, Beverley Provost; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Elvia Provost; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Linda Provost; sister, Phyllis Mettlen; brothers, Robert and Jeff Provost; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Angie Provost.
