Joseph Francis Lampasona of Allen, Texas, formerly of Revere, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the age of 77. He was born on February 20, 1940 in Winthrop, MA to his beloved parents, the late Frank DV and Rita (Occhipinti) Lampasona. Together they shared a home with Joe’s cherished older sister, the late Ann Frances Lampasona Bardaro and her late husband, Mike Bardaro.
On November 30, 1969, Joe married Maureen Mary Brandano at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Revere, MA. Together they built a life that was full of defining moments and emotions – happiness, sadness, laughter, and most of all, love. Joe’s devotion to family was what Maureen loved most about him, and they raised their family with the mantra that nothing is more important than family. Joe’s two daughters, Jennifer Brandano Lampasona (Tatum) and Danielle Brandano Lampasona (Anderson), were his whole world, and they adored him. He knew he would never have to worry about his girls because they married extraordinary men, who became his “sons” - Tommy Tatum and Brian Anderson. Joe’s pride and joy were his 4 grandsons, who loved and respected their Grampy: Joseph “Joey” Tatum, Noah Anderson, Anthony Tatum, and Logan Anderson.
The Lampasona family spent an immense amount of time together, which consisted of everything from vacations, dinners, holidays, the boys’ sports, and just hanging out, as a “party of 10” – making unforgettable memories together.
Joe graduated from Revere High School in 1957. He then went on to work full time and put himself through college, taking the train into Boston at night. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1966, he met Maureen at Radio Shack where they both worked. They dated for 3 years, and were married in 1969. After the births of Jennifer and Danielle, Joe got a job with SGS-Thompson Microelectronics in Waltham, MA. In 1983, with much hesitation, he moved his family to Phoenix, AZ to stay with the company/job he loved. In 1991, ST relocated him again, to Texas. It was there that his daughters married and had children, which was the reason Joe considered Texas his second home.
In addition to his loving wife, daughters, sons, and grandsons, Joe is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews, including Michael and Ron Bardaro.
The Lampasona family extends their sincere gratitude to Joe’s doctors for not only their exceptional medical care, but also their friendship with Joe and kindness towards his family: Dr. David Schwartz, Dr. Russell Silverstein, Dr. Paul Grayburn, the staff of Baylor Heart Hospital of Plano, and Dr. Amola S. Bagri, along with the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center of Allen.
The Lampasona Family is eternally grateful to all the friends over the years and miles that have embraced Joe’s passion for family time. In Italy, Arizona, and Texas, far from home and family in Boston, many lifelong friendships began. As a result, he considered all of you his extended family.
