Joe B. Warren

Joe B. Warren of Carrollton, Texas passed away on August 18, 2022, at the age of 88. He was born on July 5, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Robert Brown Warren and Eula Mae Evans Warren Barker. Joe was raised by his earthly father, Rupert Barker.

Joe graduated from Claypool High School, in 1954; he received a college scholarship to play basketball from University of Central Oklahoma. He exceled in his sport and graduated in 1958. Joe was voted into the University of Central Oklahoma’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000. A lifelong lover of all sports, Joe started his career in coaching. Joe coached football and track, and his track stars went to state and holds a state record.

Joe made a life changing career choice, moving into the life insurance business working for Fidelity Union, National Life and Accident, and ending with Reserve Life as Executive Vice President. Joe took another career change when he partnered with James Street, of University of Texas football fame. They traveled selling life insurance across the country. Shortly after, Joe started his family insurance business, working alongside his children, Debbie and Todd, until he retired. Throughout Joe’s life, he had a multitude of great friends, including Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin of the New York Yankees. Some of his many adventures were to start a NASCAR race and commissioning a portrait of Mickey Mantle to be hung in the rotunda of the Capital of Oklahoma.

But of all of Joe’s greatest accomplishments, is his impact on the numerous lives for Christ. The final years of Joe’s life, his mission was to encourage and train people on “How to get to Heaven”. Joe was a longtime member at Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he served in the Children’s Ministry, Sunday School teacher, Children’s Bus Ministry and numerous other positions; PSO Sports – Basketball Coach for his grandchildren, as well as serving others as a Deacon and Director of the Champions Class for the past 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Petty Warren of Carrollton, Texas. His daughter, Debbie Warren Hughey and husband Larry; son, Todd Warren and wife, Sonya. In addition, Joe was blessed with son’s Jason and Nathan Petty, and daughter’s Alysia Petty Battistoni and Jennifer Petty Hendricks. As well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Joe is also survived by his brother Bill Warren, sister Mary Barker Stewart, sister-in-law Billie Barker; brother-in law Carl Enos, brother-in law Ray Enos and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Barker, and his loving wife Sue Enos Warren.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home at 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. A private family graveside service will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.

A memorial service, celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
