Johnny Merriman

Johnny Paul Merriman of Emory, TX passed away on September 2, 2020 at the age of 77.  He was born on August 31, 1943 to George Russell and Betty Jo Williams Merriman in McKinney, TX.  Johnny married Linda Jean Carter Barron on March 28, 1999 in Plano, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Merriman of Emory, TX; son, Kelly Merriman and wife, Julie, of Meridian, TX; brother, Jimmy Merriman and wife, Reanel, of Plano, TX; 2 grandsons, Cliff Merriman and wife, Anna, of Malta, MT; Blake Merriman of Houston, TX; niece, Erica Merriman Moss and husband, Scott, of Irving, TX; step-children, Wendi Barron Gracy and husband, Tom, of Weston, TX; Matt Barron and wife, Robin, of Fort Worth, TX; Tim Barron and wife, Misti, of Tyler, TX; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, G. R. and Betty Merriman.

He graduated from Plano High School in 1961 and attended University of North Texas. He later joined the U.S. Air Force working on B-52 Bombers and KC-135 during the Vietnam War. Johnny farmed and ranched in the Plano area for many years and later moved to Emory where he ranched. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying horsemanship, car racing, hunting and fishing. Johnny was also a Deputy Constable for both Dallas and Collin counties.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Plano in Plano, TX.  The service will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIV03F986-r7LtYGckgjoZg.

Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.  The family will receive friends during a “come and go” visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing. 

There will also be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2020 at Emory Baptist Church in Emory, TX.
