Johnny Dean Thompson, 81, passed away with family by his side on October 12, 2023, in Denison, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1942, to Johnny Woodrow Thompson and Violet Ester (Daylong) Thompson in Gatesville, Texas. He grew up in a big loving family with six brothers and sisters.
Dean married Barbara Ann (Lackey) on June 10, 1960, in Midland, Texas. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage.
Dean was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Leonard.
Dean will be remembered by his daughters, Dorinda Neaville and husband, David, of Trenton, Texas, Susan Thompson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Dana Miller of Leonard, Texas, Wendy Nolen and husband, Darvin, of Leonard, Texas and son, Johnny Dean Thompson, Jr, of Oklahoma.
Grandchildren Jeremy and Angela Nolen, John and Kimberly Occhino, Jason and Katelyn Fuller, Christie and Anthony Prather, Brittany and Jerome Hailey, Shandra and Michael Daugherty, Kenneth and Jessica Fuller, Brandon and Angela Dunmon, Ashley Thompson, Coltin Nolen, and Keri Taylor.
Great grandchildren, Maddie, Joey, Bella, Kagnie, Kailey, Ethan, Jaxon, Harper, William, Finley, Mac, Sydnie, Oliver, Grady, Issac, Kenliegh, Ethan, Bryce, Morgan, Kalissa, DJ, Brenlen, Brenley, Dylan, AJ, Ryliegh, and Mikaylah.
Sisters, Diane Mackey and Carla Weaver and sister-in-law Sybil Thompson.
He was preceded by his wife, Barbara Ann Thompson; parents Johnny and Violet Thompson; grandson Keith Neaville; brothers, Dale Thompson, Ray Thompson, and Randy Thompson; and sister, Sandra Sweden.
A funeral service for Dean, officiated by Joseph Johnson, will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Leonard. Family night will be on October 13, 2023, from 5-7 P.M. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard, Texas. Following the services there will be a process to Leonard Cemetery for burial. Pallbearers for the service are Jeremy Nolen, Coltin Nolen, Brandon Dunmon, Ray Miller, Stacy Head, Anthony Prather, John Occhino, and Jim Buffalo.
