Johnnie Wayne Burnside of McKinney, Texas passed away November 13, 2017 at the age of 78.  He was born March 17, 1939 to Allen Horace Burnside and Alice Pauline (Gay) Burnside in Anna, Texas.  Johnnie married Betty Jean Hudson on March 23, 1957 in Rockwall, Texas. He was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.  Johnnie’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and bowling. Johnnie worked for Valspar (previously known as Desoto) for over forty years. He was a hard and dedicated worker. Johnnie was known to walk and hitch a ride to work in Garland many of times. He loved his wife, mom and family dearly. Johnnie will be remembered as a servant’s heart.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Rowe of Oakwood, Georgia, Karen Davidson also of Oakwood, Georgia, and Johnnie Renea Howell and husband Dean of Trenton, Texas; grandchildren, Jason and Jacob Newby, Josh Burnside, Melissa Welker, Jackie Smith, Jessie Rowe, Amanda Beaty, and Savanah Berry; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his spouse Betty Jean Burnside (2001), brothers, Edward and Bobby Burnside, and sisters, Edna Staton, Wilma Jo Ogle, Linda Duncan, and Brenda Kanady.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, November 17, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
