Johnnie Ballew

Johnnie Ballew, age 87, of McKinney, Texas passed away May 24, 2011. She was born January 10, 1924 in Allen, Oklahoma to Bertie Alice (McKenzie) Pope and James Stanford Pope. She was a loving wife to Lester Everett Ballew, whom she married on July 24, 1946 in Van Alstyne, Texas. Johnnie worked at both Haggar Pant Factory and McKinney Dress Factory for many years. Johnnie was a faithful member of Community North Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Lester Ballew of McKinney, Texas; sister, Anne Brown and husband, Lon of McKinney, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and James Stanford Pope; brother, Mac Henry Pope and two sisters, Louise Hale and Marie Gaither. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Bruce Austin and Rev. Rocky Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Community North Baptist Building Fund.
