Johnie Ferguson

Mr. Johnie Ferguson, age 79, of McKinney, Texas passed away May 9, 2006, in McKinney. He was born August 22, 1926, in Valley Creek, Texas to Eddie Curtis and Alberta (Starnes) Ferguson. On July 19, 1953, he married Bobbie Sue Crawford in Denton, Texas. Mr. Ferguson served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. Among his many accomplishments, he is recognized as one of the 10 founders of the Collin County Community College. He was a 25-year member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and Ambassador Board Chairman. He was Chamber of Commerce President in 1976 and in 1986, he was awarded Citizen of the Year in McKinney. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the McKinney Lions Club and a former announcer of the McKinney Lions football games. As a result of his active membership in Lions he received the Jack Weich Fellows Award for his dedication to the Children of Texas Lions Camp and the Melvin Jones Fellows for Humanitarian Services of Lions Club International. He was also a member of the First Methodist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Ferguson of McKinney; daughter, Susan Lennon and husband, Rodney of Miller Grove, Texas; sons, David Ferguson and wife, Kelley of Paris, Texas and Allan Ferguson and wife, Beth of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Adrianne and Sarah Ferguson, Travis and Jordan Lennon and Tyler and Trenton Little; sisters, Martha Lowrey of Dallas, Texas and Mary Jane Baker of Hope, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. His parents and brother, Gene Ferguson preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2006, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
