Johney Burke "J.B." Hunn

Johney Burke “J.B.” Hunn, age 93, of Prosper, Texas, formerly of Celina, Texas, passed away January 5, 2023. J.B. was born December 22, 1929 in Celina, Texas, to Jessie Shain and Elvie (Pinter) Hunn. He married Mitzi Mary (Burr) Hunn on May 20, 1950, in Dallas, Texas. J.B. was the owner of several different food related businesses, most notably Choice Products the maker of Wiejske Wyroby Polish Pickles. He retired from the food business in February 1990 which allowed him the necessary time to focus his energy on his Texas Longhorn cattle business and Choice Acres Ranch. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, former President of North Texas Longhorn Association, a Texas Longhorn Breeder’s Association Lifetime Member, and the former President of American Food Salesman Association. J.B. was a longtime member of the Celina Quarterback Club and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Celina.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Harris and husband, Bob of Frisco, Texas; sons, Mike Hunn and wife Kim Allen of Carrollton, Texas, Pat Hunn and wife, Cyndy of Celina, Texas, and Shain Hunn and wife, Marquin, also of Celina; grandchildren, Tara Turner and husband, Chris, Burke Hunn and wife, Heather, Micah Hunn, Collin Hunn and wife, Brandy, Whitney McKenzie and husband, Kolter, Hailee Boyd and husband, David, Hayden Hunn, and Riley Hunn; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hatchcox of Dallas, Texas, Nancy Wilson of Frisco, Texas, and Carole Coleman of California; sister-in-law, Gail Cali and husband, Vince; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mitzi Hunn, parents, Shain and Elvie Hunn, grandson, Jarod Blake Hunn, and several siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, at First Celina Baptist Church, 841 N. Preston Rd., Celina, Texas, 75009. Interment will follow at Old Celina Cemetery in Celina. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the church.
