Johnathan Evan Venable “Alaska”, 24, from McKinney, Texas, peacefully departed this life on March 1, 2024. He was born on June 29, 1999, in Clovis, New Mexico. Johnathan graduated from Anna High School in 2017 and embarked on a journey filled with remarkable achievements.
In his time in Texas, Johnathan thrived as a standout varsity football player and powerlifter, showcasing his strength and determination. some of his proudest achievements included playing varsity football on the A-Team as an outside linebacker for 3 years in a row and placing 3rd in the State Powerlifting Competition, deadlifting 410lbs. His passion for service led him to join the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, where he quickly rose through the ranks, earning accolades for his dedication and physical fitness. He started as a Detention Officer, with a vision of serving as a peace officer. After many hours of hard work and dedication, in 2021 Johnathan achieved his goal earning a promotion to Deputy Sheriff. During this time, he was presented special recognition for being the youngest person to graduate from Collin College Law Enforcement Academy, as well as ‘Most Physically Fit’ for his outstanding performance in the 110th Basic Peace Officer Course.
Johnathan's most significant accomplishment was undoubtedly finding love with Genevieve. Their love story, marked by a picturesque proposal in Alaska and a joyous wedding surrounded by loved ones, was a testament to their deep connection. His steadfast dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He prioritized family gatherings above all else, often going the extra mile to ensure those cherished moments together. Whether it was gathering around the dinner table for a home-cooked meal, embarking on outdoor adventures together, or simply sharing laughter and stories around a campfire, he treasured every opportunity he could be with them.
Johnathan’s life was filled with an abundance of diverse interests and passions. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, ranching, horseback riding and exploring new places. He was deeply devoted to playing his guitar and writing music to sing and perform with his band. His leisure time was also known to be filled with two-stepping, powerlifting, playing football, watching anime and playing video games. Despite his tough exterior, Johnathan possessed a gentle soul, radiating unconditional love and kindness to all who crossed his path. His quick wit, infectious laughter, and love of adventure defined his zest for life, inspiring those around him. Johnathan will be fondly remembered and deeply missed for the remarkable qualities that made him such a beloved presence in the lives of his family, friends, and community.
He leaves behind his cherished wife, Genevieve Venable; parents, Howard Venable and Rowena Baricuatro; sister, Tatiyanna Venable; brother; Zackharie Venable; and a host other loving family, extended family of the Collin County Sheriff’s Department and numerous friends.
The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time, knowing that Johnathan's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory serve as a beacon of strength and comfort in the days ahead.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013 for a committal service. The evening will conclude with a Celebration of Life at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5871 Virginia Parkway, McKinney, Texas 75071.
