John "Chris" Christopher Powell

John “Chris” Christopher Powell of McKinney, Texas passed away on May 18, 2020 at the age of 42. He suffered a severe brain injury due to a fall. He was born September 6, 1977 to John and Brenda (Bridges) Powell in Monroe, Louisiana.  The family transferred to Plano, Texas in August 1979. Chris accepted Jesus as his savior at Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano and was baptized by pastor E. M. Hay at age 12. He graduated from Plano Senior High in 1996. He attended Collin College Fall 1996-98. In August 1998 he joined some of his best friends at Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, Texas.  His Major was Electrical Engineering Technology.

He joined Technology Service Professionals (TSP) in July 2004. While working for TSP he provided information technology (IT) service. His prime customer was Texas Instruments. Where he served as Field Service Manager at the time of his accident and passing.

Chris loved his daughters, McKenzie Grace Powell (13) and Emma May Powell (6). He had just taken them to San Diego for Vacation Getaway and first airplane ride on spring break. He was close to and loved his family and his lifelong friends whom he loved like brothers. Chris was an excellent worker and loved to work on anything that needed service or fixed. He never gave up on solving a hard problem. He loved his job with TSP, his coworkers and working with his customers at TI. In his spare time, he loved the outdoors. He loved to go to his hunting club where he spent a lot of time growing up and learning about hunting, fishing and nature. Mostly he liked things that had motors such as ATV’s, boats, trucks, getting wet and muddy. He loved to help people especially if it involved anything related to the above.

Chris is survived by his two wonderful daughters, McKenzie Grace Powell and Emma May Powell of McKinney, Texas; parents, John and Brenda Powell of McKinney, Texas; uncle and aunt, Gerald and Linda Bridges of Newalla, Oklahoma; aunt, Quida Kirby of Windermere, Florida and his aunt Kathy Bridges of Morrison, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mathew and Claudel Powell of Atlanta, Texas, Ann Bridges of Plano, Texas, Breland Bridges of Prentiss, Mississippi; uncle, Roger Powell of Atlanta, Texas and his uncle, Larry Bridges of Morrison, Oklahoma.
