John “Jack” William Lester of Melissa, Texas passed away January 27, 2021
at the age of 76. He was born on September 16, 1944 to Donald Lester and
Edith (Gage) Lester in Schenectady, New York.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Joy Hicks and her husband Jim of
Melissa, Texas; son, John Lester of California; grandchildren, Elijah,
Isabella, Malachi, and Evie Hicks; sister, Lucille Ragde of Los Angeles,
California, brother, George Lester of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and numerous
other loving family members and friends.
Jack was truly one of a kind, like a hero of legend. He was extremely
generous and hard working. He was clever and strong as an ox. He had a
huge booming voice and he would sing opera from time to time. He was a
Vietnam veteran. He was a successful entrepreneur. He was full of wisdom
and he had a huge heart. He loved tractors and was a huge supporter of the
Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA.
Jack loved spending time with his family in Texas. He was an excellent cook
and he loved to make gourmet meals and entertain his family and friends. He
was loved dearly and we will miss him more than words can say.
