John "Scotty" Cayton

John L. "Scotty" Cayton of Plano, Texas passed away on August 16, 2019 at the age of 89. He was born on July 4, 1930 to Kenneth Malcolm and Lucy Mae (Ferguson) Cayton in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He married Judith Ann Fournet on April 3, 1951 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a pioneering computer software developer and a long-time ham radio enthusiast.

Scotty is survived by his brother, Stewart Keith Cayton and wife, Betty Jeanne of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sister, Carolyn Sirmon and husband, Richard of Gueydan, Louisiana; sons, Mark Cayton and wife, Susie of Arlington, Texas, Kenneth Cayton of Richardson, Texas, Bryan Cayton of Dallas, Texas, and Alan Cayton and wife, Sherlynn of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Yvonne Gunter and husband, Ray of Sachse, Texas, Patricia Stevenson and husband, Jay of Richardson, Texas, Michelle Duhon and husband, Brian of Dallas, Texas, and Shanda Mints and husband, Mark of Frisco, Texas; and 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends. 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 South Jupiter Road, Richardson, Texas 75081. A committal service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas with military honors. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
