John Lawrence Zielaskiewicz

John L. Zielaskiewicz, age 65, of McKinney, Texas passed away February 5, 2007 in Plano, Texas. He was born August 5, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio to John Joseph and Mildred (Jarocak) Zielaskiewicz. John served his country as a Registered Nurse earning the rank of Captain in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church where he was a Knight of Columbus and a founding member of Council #12153.

He is survived by his daughters Julie of Woodbridge, Virginia and Kristen of Carrollton, Texas; mother Mildred of Brooklyn, Ohio; brothers Thomas and Jerome of Cleveland, Ohio and Michael of Alaska; and eleven nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his granddogs Ginny, Zoey, Misha, Bingley and Socks, all of whom he loved dearly. Preceding him in death were his father John in 1977; son Michael in 1971; and sister Julia Soska in 2005.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 4:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2007 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas with Father Greg Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation at St. Gabriel Church on Wednesday evening beginning at 5:30 PM. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. An additional visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home from 11-2 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Heard Science Museum in McKinney, TX, Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 1401 Rockville Pike, Ste 600, Rockville, MD 20852 or to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, TX.
