John Archiebell “Archie” Wood, age 89, of Whitewright, Texas, passed away June 15, 2007 in McKinney. He was born July 24, 1917, in Sherman, Texas, to Harvey Ovid and Goldie Mae (Goodman) Wood. Archie was a retired farm hand, he loved to fish, and was a member of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his brother, Ovid G. Wood and his wife Helen Ruth of Whitewright; sister, Mary Louvina Clem and her husband Harold of McKinney; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Elizabeth Wood, Laurene Wood, Ruby Golden, Paulene Taylor, Silvia Wilbanks, and Gladis Wood. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Friendship Cemetery, Sherman, Texas, with Rev. Houston Garner and Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Earnheart Funeral Home in Whitewright.
