John Wilson Coffey, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 67.
John was born on December 19, 1958, in McKinney, Texas, to Garland Wilson Coffey and Joy Evelyn (Robinson) Coffey. A man of Christian faith, John lived life in his own quiet and thoughtful way.
John was a deeply intelligent and creative soul with a love for writing and poetry. He found expression through his words and had a gift for seeing the world in his own unique way. He was also a lover of music and enjoyed playing the harmonica.
A devoted Cowboys fan, John enjoyed following his team and sharing in the excitement of the game. He was a private person who kept mostly to himself, but those who knew him understood the depth of his character, intelligence, and creativity.
John is survived by his brother, Clyde Coffey of Plano, Texas; sister, Patti Schroeder of Hutto, Texas along with her daughters, Natalie Morales and Katherine Schroeder; and brother, William Coffey and wife, Angie of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, along with their daughter, Ashley Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Joy Coffey.
