John William Fishpaw, age 78, of Sachse, Texas passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016 surrounded by family at his home. John loved his family, his country and politics. He was actively involved in the local community, from his involvement with youth soccer associations to his work helping navigate the early growth of Plano. John enjoyed playing bridge, attending church and watching FOX News.
John was born July 14, 1938 in Winchester, Virginia to Louise and Raymond Fishpaw. He married Janet McMahan on June 6, 1959 in Preston, Maryland. A graduate of the University of Maryland, John worked at IBM for 30 years prior to his retirement.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet McMahon Fishpaw, his brother, Edward Rinker Fishpaw of Manassas, Virginia, 4 beloved children, Judy Lynn Fishpaw of Sachse, Jody Fishpaw Foster (Anthony) of Frisco, Jill Fishpaw Hurt (Stephen) of Rockwall, and John Joseph Fishpaw (Ellen) of Plano, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, TX. A celebration of life will follow at the family’s home in Sachse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
