IN LOVING MEMORY

John V. Linscott, Jr.

Aug 09 1939 - Jan 19 2018

John “Johnny” Vernon Linscott, Jr., 78 years old, resident of Allen, Texas, formerly of Archer City, passed away on January 19, 2018, after a 4-year battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Johnny was born on August 9, 1939 in Olney, Texas to John and Marie Meek Linscott.

Johnny was in the Archer City Class of ‘57. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army. He was selected to join the White House Army Signal Agency. While living in Washington, D.C., he met his wife of 51 years on a blind date. After getting married, they moved to Archer City to start their family. His most rewarding work was with Bendix Field Engineering Corporation where he worked on contracts with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory helping to develop and build R&D satellites and field stations, including the Naval Space Surveillance System in Archer City. This group of scientists and engineers developed what has become the Global Positioning System (GPS).

Johnny was a hard worker and accomplished much in his 78 years, but his greatest joy came from his family. He loved us well and was always there to celebrate the big and little milestones. He supported his grandchildren with enthusiasm by babysitting, attending Tae Kwon Do belt promotions, soccer games, and ballet and piano recitals. He was proud that all three of his grandsons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his sons, Jay and Sherri of Crandall, Trent and Carolyn of Plano; and daughter, Erica and John Dorlon of Allen; his grandsons, Joshua, Aaron, and Johnny; and granddaughter, Chloe; brothers, Bill and Sue of Archer City, Don and Sheri of Hilton Head, South Carolina; nieces, Andrea of Luling, Louisiana and Kelley of Atlanta, Georgia.

Johnny was preceded in death by wife, Karen; father, John; mother, Marie; sister, Wilma; and nephew, Lance.

The family will receive friends at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church in Archer City on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment in Archer City Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Parkinson’s Foundation

Johnny made his profession of faith to his Lord in 1962. We have the assurance that we will be reunited with both Mom and Dad one day when the Lord calls us home.
