John Taylor Rasor, age 70, of Celina, Texas passed away on May 12, 2016. He was born on November 2, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Florence Mae (Taylor) and Robert Gough Rasor. He married Katherine L Vest on February 23, 1968 at Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church.
John graduated from Frisco High School in 1964. After high school he worked at Collins Radio and Texas Instruments. He earned his associates degree from El Centro College in 1969 and finished his Bachelors in Business at North Texas State University in 1971. By 1975 John was the father of two boys. He decided that working for a company was not right for him so he went back to his roots and started farming. He would farm and ranch for the next 41 years until his death. John stayed busy over the years in various activities such as serving on the Collin County Appraisal Review Board, The Collin County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was an active member of the Celina Masonic Lodge where he was a past Master. John’s favorite past time was touring the Texas Hill Country on his horse but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He loved to sit on the back porch with his wife and watch his precious grandchildren play in the backyard.
John is survived by his wife, Kathy Rasor of Celina; two sons, John Gough Rasor and his wife, Tracy of Dallas, Texas and Carl Cleveland Rasor and his wife, Angie of Celina, Texas; four grandchildren, Addison Ann, Leslie Taylor, John Troy and Robert Henry Rasor.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Gough and Florence Rasor.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Celina from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the church on Saturday, May 14, 2016 beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kevin Lykins officiating. A private interment will be held at Rowlett Cemetery in Plano, Texas.
The family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Celina “For His Kids Renovation Fund” in John Rasor’s honor.
