John Russell "Rusty" Stallings, D.V.M.

John Russell “Rusty” Stallings, D.V.M, age 56 of Plano, Texas passed away March 13, 2005, in Plano. He was born on April 17, 1948, in Paducah, Texas to Horace Leslie and Louise (Russell) Stallings. Dr. Stallings was a graduate of Texas A&M University. During the years of 1966-1970 he earned two Varsity and one Freshman letter in football and played on the Southwest Conference and Cotton Bowl Championship teams. In 1971 he was the Freshman Team Graduate Assistant Coach. He was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, Company H-1 and was Company Commander from 1969-1970. He was also a member of the Ross Volunteers. He graduated in 1971 with a B.S. and D.V.M. On December 19, 1970, he married Kerry Fisher in College Station. Dr. Stallings owned and operated Prairie Creek Pet Care Center in Plano. He was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kerry Stallings of Plano; children, Tim Stallings of Plano, Texas and Kathryn Parr and husband, William of Boerne, Texas; granddaughter, Rachel Alev Parr of Boerne; brothers, Robert David Stallings and wife, Sheila of Austin, Texas, and Thomas Leslie Stallings of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Barbara Stallings McKnight of Placedo, Texas; and numerous other loving family. His parents preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held Thursday. A public memorial service will be held at a later date at Prestonwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prestonwood Baptist Church in memory of Rusty Stallings.
