John S. Zdychnec

July 8, 1929 - November 19, 2016

John Stanley Zdychnec, 87, son of Joseph S. and Marion (Giules) Zdychnec passed away peacefully at his home in Fairview, Texas on November 19, 2016.  He was born on July 8, 1929.  He graduated from Randolph High School, attended Wentworth Military Academy, and the University of Iowa.

John spent his entire career in banking and his dedication to supporting numerous communities and their businesses was at the forefront of many community development initiatives.  An Iowa Hawkeye at heart, John’s charismatic personality and quick smile allowed him to make immediate friends and contributed to his many successes.  He was most proud of making the dream of Wahkonsa Country Club (Durant, IA) a reality.  John retired from banking as President and CEO of Olney Trust Bank in 1996 in Olney, Illinois.

John loved building and flying RC airplanes, and was a passionate fisherman.  The “big one” he just missed still swims in Leech Lake today.  An avid golfer, he enjoyed a beautiful ride around the golf course at his home just before his passing.  He loved shooting pool with the guys.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Teresa Zdychnec; sister, Mary Jo Hermansky of Jansen, NE; his children, Dr. Vicki Mueller (Charles) of Amarillo, Texas, Michael Zdychnec (Laura) of Maple Grove, MN, and Kathy Forst (John) of Urbandale, Iowa; step-sons, Scott Stuart (Kristi) of Spearfish, SD, and Wilson Stuart (Lauren) of Cordova, TN; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas.

John and I were saddened to hear of John's passing. I know his Parkinsin's weighed heavy on him and you. Such a good man to have such an awful disease. He was so blessed to have you as his wife, and you blessed to have him as your husband. But now he has been called to Heaven to be with our Father in paradise, and will no longer be in pain. What a joyous place to be to meet again someday. Keep your Faith in God and His son, Jesus Christ, who will help you get through John's passing. John lived a long life and will be missed by so many but never forgotten. With our love, thoughts and prayers always, John and Sharon Germantown, TN John and Sharon Barden, December 6, 2016 Our deepest sympathy to you & all of John's family.
