John Roy Clark passed away on March 9, 2024 in Frisco, Texas at the age of 74. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and cherished moments. John was a loving father to his sons Benjamin Clark, Phillip Clark, and the late Alexander Clark. He was also a devoted and loving guardian to Ethelbert Williams, who became a member of the family. John’s love for his family was unquestionable, and his enduring memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
John leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of his sons and their families: Benjamin and Meg Clark of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Phillip and Jessica Clark of Anthem, Arizona, and his grandchildren, who called him “Grandpapa”: Maren, Emma, Noah, Alexander, Ethan, and Lucy. His love for them knew no bounds and they will carry his spirit with them always.
John is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ann, who shared a special bond with him throughout their lives.
John was born on November 20, 1949 in Rock Island, Illinois to Roy Frederick Martin Clark and Jesse Ruth Matheny. He married Roberta Gail Miller on July 21, 1973. He was the devoted member of the Oaks Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas.
John grew up in Rock Island, Illinois and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1967. After high school John received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Bradley University and a Masters of Business Administration from Illinois Institute of Technology. He also held the Professional Engineering designation. John was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.
John worked in telecommunications his entire life. His career included working for Illinois Bell, Centel, and Nortel. Later in his career, he enjoyed consulting and thinking outside the box. He enjoyed anything with technology, automobiles, following politics, and keeping in touch with his friends.
A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at the Alex Clark Memorial Disc Golf Park in McKinney, Texas on Saturday, June 22 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
John will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though we grieve the loss of John deeply, we find comfort in knowing that he has found peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. Rest in peace, sweet John. Your love and spirit will forever live in our hearts.
