John Patrick Stutler, “Jack,” passed away on July 28, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 88. He was born to Edward and Eileen (Warwood) Stutler on January 16, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio and was raised in Fort Wright, Kentucky. Along his journey he also resided in Dayton, Ann Arbor, San Antonio and Plano.
Jack was an only child but soon made close friends through his life-long love of sports. At a young age he was walking a mile each day to spend hours playing basketball or baseball with those friends. Determined to attend St. Xavier High School, Jack paid his own way. There he was a three letter man at football, basketball and baseball. Jack was forever an enthusiastic X High Bomber, loyally following the school’s sports exploits.
After graduating from Xavier University, Jack embarked on a career that included being a computer programmer in the early days of the industry. He eventually led organizations to train programmers. In later years, Jack became a very successful investor. He volunteered at a free medical clinic and was the commissioner of a youth baseball league.
Jack loved playing sports and passed that along to his children: hitting fly balls to them, playing driveway basketball, quarterbacking offense/defense football, tennis, sailing, racquetball and golf. His kids talked with him often and besides discussing his grandchildren, he wanted to talk about your latest competitive sports outing, golf, tennis or whatever. He had a kid’s enthusiasm and an athlete’s competitive spirit for sports.
In their retirement, Carol and Jack traveled to Spain, Hawaii and to visit the many weddings and events that come with a large family. Jack was a devout Catholic and lived a Christian life. He was very much a family man.
We are so sad to have him leave us and also are so very happy and feel so blessed to have had him in our lives.
Jack is survived by his wife Carol of Plano, Texas; sons, Paul (Tonia Teasley) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Mark (Gabriella) of Cincinnati, Ohio, David (Ann) of Park Hills, Kentucky, Luke (Jenny) of McKinney, Texas, and Kevin (Pam) of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Eileen Cole (David) of Mount Prospect, Illinois; 20 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eileen Stutler, and wife Eva.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 11am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.
