John Patrick O’Donnell of McKinney, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on March 1, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Patrick and Irma Ray (Stone) O’Donnell.
John grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Banks High School in 1968. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Auburn University and later received his MBA from Samford University. John married Sandra Lynn Seubert on July 18, 1981, in Orlando, Florida. He was an active member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas, where he served as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus with his son, Brennan. John was a Certified Public Accountant and spent the majority of his career as a Chief Financial Officer in the healthcare industry. Outside of his career, John found great joy in working in the yard, tackling home improvement projects, and volunteering for the Special Olympics. Above all, John was a supportive husband, dedicated father, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra O’Donnell of McKinney, Texas; children, Allison Lynn Rodriguez and husband, James of McKinney, Texas, John Patrick O’Donnell, Jr. and wife, Rachel of Liberty Hill, Texas, Collins Elizabeth Landers and husband, Michael of Richardson, Texas, and Brennan Steven O’Donnell of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Madelyn Elizabeth Landers, Bailey Catherine O’Donnell, Patrick Wilson Landers, Clara Belle O’Donnell, and Noah Steven Landers; brother, Michael O’Donnell and wife, Donna of Birmingham, Alabama; sister-in-law, Emmalee O’Donnell of Birmingham, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Kren; and brothers, William and Stephen O’Donnell.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://www.stgabriel.org/funerals-online.
