John Patrick Eaton

John Patrick Eaton of Fairview, Texas passed away July 24, 2023 at the age of 79.  He was born on December 22, 1943 to Howard Earl Eaton and Evelyn Martha (Martinez) Eaton in Los Angeles, California. 

John’s faith drove his commitment to life which was evident in all of his life’s endeavors.  His devout relationship with God led to his devotion to ministry in the Catholic Church, his exemplary service to his country in the United States Air Force, and his love of his family, friends, and all whom he met.

He attended high school at Mt. Carmel High School then earned his bachelor’s degree in 1965 from Loyola University in Los Angeles, California.  John married Maureen Brindley on November 9, 1968 in Los Angeles. 

John served in the Vietnam War as a pilot for the United States Air Force where he earned several medals honoring his bravery.  John eventually retired from the Air Force after twenty years as a highly decorated Lt. Colonel.  His love of flying then led him to his second career as a pilot for American Airlines for sixteen years. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Maureen Eaton of Fairview, Texas; son, Scott Eaton and wife, Jude of Leander, Texas; daughter, Lisa Eaton and husband, Agustin of Santa Monica, California; son, Mike Eaton and wife, Charlotte of Fairview, Texas; son, John Paul Eaton and wife, Sharon of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Meghan Skelton and husband, Chris of McKinney, Texas; and daughter, Patricia Hammerland and husband, Sean of McKinney, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a host of other loving family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Baumgartner; brother, Mike Eaton; and sister, Mary Eaton.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  John will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening, July 27, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.  A rosary service will begin at 9:20 a.m. prior to the service.  The service will also be live streamed through St. Jude Catholic Church using the following: https://www.facebook.com/stjudesacraments.  Please copy and paste or go to their website’s calendar to access the link also.

John will have a funeral mass and interment at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Calvary Mausoleum and Cemetery, 4201 Whittier Boulevard, Los Angeles, California.
