John Milton Bovis passed away at age 85. He was born in Kissimmee, Florida, to J. Adrian and Lorena Bovis. John was a graduate of Osceola High School, Florida Southern College, and Emory University College of Law where he earned his J.D. He was a founding member of the law firm Bovis, Kyle, Burch & Medlin with multiple locations in four states. John was a specialist in defense attorney work representing insureds and corporations. His practice led him to defense work from New York to California. He was a life loyal Sigma Chi, a member of ODK, Atlanta Lawyers Club, State Bars of Georgia and Florida, U.S. District Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He was a member of Destiny Worship Center and a Baptist Deacon. John was an avid golfer. He was past president of Atlanta Country Club, a member of Royal Troon (Scotland), Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club, Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club, and the Atlanta Classic Foundation. John played in Pro-Ams in Scotland, South Africa, North & Central America, Hong Kong, and China.
John is survived by Liz Bovis, his wife of 58 years; his daughters Leslie Fearington and Wendy Boots (Greg, son-in-law); and grandchildren Caroline and Peyton Fearington, and Kiley, Fletcher and Grady Boots; and his brother Jimmy Bovis (Jenell).
