“By His wounds you have been healed.” — 1 Peter 2:24

"Well done, good and faithful servant"--- Matthew 25:23

John Eric Bertrand, 55, passed away peacefully at his home in Frisco, Texas, on May 7, 2026, after an 18-month courageous battle with cancer marked by unwavering faith, strength, and perseverance.

John was born on July 27, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, to Imer J. “Bert” and Lynn E. (Airoldi) Bertrand. He graduated from Bishop Lynch High School in 1989 and later earned his degree from Texas Tech University in 1999. On November 20, 1999, he married the love of his life, Cory Lyn Heatherly, in Lubbock, Texas.

John began his career in restaurant management with On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina before earning his real estate license in 2002. In 2009, he and Cory moved to McKinney, Texas, where he began working alongside his father in real estate. He later joined Keller Williams Realty, and together he and Cory built a highly successful real estate team recognized with numerous industry awards over the past 15 years.

John loved racquetball, cheering for his Texas Tech Red Raiders, Dallas Cowboys football, spending time at his cabin in Oklahoma and especially spoiling his beloved dachshunds, Stinky and Bebe. More than anything, he loved being with family and attending Bertrand family gatherings throughout the years.

Known for his generosity, kindness, and servant’s heart, John was always the first to help someone in need. Even throughout his illness, he remained steadfast in his faith and continued pointing others to Christ through his courage and trust in the Lord. His journey became a testimony of perseverance and faith to all who knew him.

A devoted member of Denton Bible Church, John studied under Pastor Tommy Nelson and became an ordained minister. He officiated the marriage ceremony for his niece, Rachael Bertrand, and her husband, Jared Lee and later performed his parents’ wedding vow renewal ceremony celebrating their 67th anniversary.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Cory; his parents, Bert and Lynn Bertrand; and his brothers Mark (Holli), Doug (Christa), Greg (Paula), and Cris (Eva), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and clients whose lives he touched deeply.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 18, 2026, at Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas, with burial immediately following at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
