IN LOVING MEMORY

John D. Scott

Jan 18 1974 - Dec 11 2023

John D. Scott passed away peacefully in the presence of his family after a brief illness in Sherman, Texas on December 11, 2023. He was born to Larry and Diana Scott on January 18, 1974 in McKinney, Texas, one of three children.

John married his long-time sweetheart, Nickey Tabor on December 18, 2012 in Sherman. They were blessed with two children and now four grandchildren.

He enjoyed his 23-year career with Kaiser Aluminum, where he made many friends. People were drawn to his easy spirit and warm smile. John was an extremely hard worker, often taking additional twelve-hour shifts. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and John was affectionately called "Thankszilla". He planned early and insisted on hosting family and friends every year.

The joy of his life was his family, and he was especially devoted to his wife, Nickey. He thoroughly loved his children and was always there with guidance and encouragement, teaching and disciplining them as needed. The grandchildren were spoiled rotten by him, and they were crazy about Papa John. He leaves a legacy of love, hard work, and care.

He is survived by his wife, Nickey Scott of Whitewright; son, Tyler Scott of Whitewright; daughter, Britni Putt and husband Daniel; four grandchildren, Zeke, Lilly, Chloe, and Lincoln; sister, Ann Scott of Whitewright; sisters-in-law aka "His Golden Girls", Sammie Tabor, Martha Schrand, and Linda-Tabor; nieces, Rachel Griffin and husband Dylan of Whitewright, Leslie Wieck and husband Davis of Van Alstyne, Meagen Montgomery and husband Jared of Austin, Texas; nephew, Robert Lance Tabor of Whitewright.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy and Wayne Scott; father, Larry Wayne Scott; and father-in-law, William Tabor.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home 201 W. Maple Street Whitewright, Texas 75491.
