John Thomas Carter, age 80, formerly of Princeton, Texas passed away January 7, 2005, in Bonham, Texas. He was a resident of Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham. He was born on February 25, 1924, in San Antonio, Texas to Chester Arthur and Nellie Ruth (Price) Carter. On February 22, 1975, he married Georgia Lee Giddings in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a roofer and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Carter of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Nellie Patricia Buckley and her husband, Robert of Groves, Texas; 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Jeanelle McKinney of Plano, Texas and Chastine Cline of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Wayne Carter; and sister, Dorothy Jean Keefen. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
