Joe Albert Martinez

Joe Albert Martinez of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 1, 2022 at the age of 67. He was born on March 20, 1954 to Leandro and Andrea (Avilo) Martinez in San Antonio, Texas.  Jose grew up in San Antonio until 1966 when he moved to McKinney, Texas.  Joe met his wife of over 50 years while attending junior high.  It took a few years before Joe and Ester started dating since then they’ve been side by side.  After school Joe immediately joined the workforce, helping Ester’s father with landscaping.  Joe later worked with his brother-in-law pouring concrete and later worked as a machine operator from Encore.  Joe had a family softball team for over 15 years.  Some of his favorite memories came from coaching Los Borrachos, his softball team.  He also had a family football team as well.  Joe loved sports and getting together with friends and family to watch and play the games.  Joe and Ester loved getting on the dance floor.  They won multiple trophies for dancing the twist and other dances.  Joe was a hard-working family man.  His family will miss the Sundays in the garage watching the cowboys.  Whether it was playing pranks or laughing at Joe’s antics, joe loved making his family happy, their joy brought him joy.

He is survived by his wife, Ester of McKinney, Texas; son, Joe Martinez, Jr. and wife, Andrea of Anna, Texas; daughter Shelby Long and husband, Jeff of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Allison and Makenna Martinez both of Anna, Texas; sisters, Juanita Garcia and husband, Herminio of Plano, Texas, Rosie Martinez of Garland, Texas, Maria Kamphouse and husband, Bob of Garland, Texas, Modesta Salcido and husband, Manuel of Conroe, Texas, Alicia Mendoza and husband, Rick of Garland, Texas, Dorelia Nieto and husband, Arthuro of Dallas, Texas, and Andrea Dugick and husband, Jerry of Colorado Springs, Colorado;  and numerous other loving family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  The service will be live streamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/joe-a-martinez.
