Joe Alvin Fleming

Joe Alvin Fleming was born on November 7, 1937 in McKinney, Texas, to the proud parentage of Freeman Fleming and Opal Marie Sweeney Davis.  He received his formal education thru the McKinney ISD School system. Joe served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War.  He accepted Christ at an early age.  Joe attended Good Hope Baptist Church.  Joe’s life was filled for love for his mother, his siblings, his children and his entire family.  He was a wonderful son, a loving father, and a caring brother.  Joe was always available to do whatever was needed to help his family in any way he could.

Joe made his transition from his earthly tabernacle to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.  He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joeil Sweeney and Savannah Jorden Sweeney; his parents, Freeman Fleming and Opal Marie Sweeney Davis; and his daughter, Eva Harrison Williams and granddaughter, Joyeria Dunlap.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, George Fleming and wife, Tina; sister, Doris Watson; three sons, Joel Leon Fleming and wife, Linda, Joe Fleming, and Quinten Fleming; two daughters, Amelia Wheeler and husband, Don, and Rhonda Fleming Combs; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  The interment will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
