Joe McGehee, age 90, of McKinney, Texas, passed away at home with family at his bedside on December 7, 2012, in McKinney. Joe was born September 27, 1922, in Amite County, Mississippi, to Burnard and Elma (Nunnery) McGehee. He married Fredna Green on October 31, 1948, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Joe was a Mason in the McComb, Mississippi chapter. He proudly served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Fredna McGehee of McKinney, Texas; son, Earl McGehee of Austin, Texas; daughters, Martha McGehee of McKinney, Texas and Kay Weisenstein of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; granddaughters, Kristin Lynchard and Shay Hunicutt, both of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Nathon Lynchard and Natalie Lynchard, both of McKinney, Texas, and Sol Hunicutt and Aiden Hunicutt, both of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; great-great-grandchildren, Laia Lynchard and Christian Jones, both of McKinney, Texas; sister, Geneva Lamana of McComb, Mississippi; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
