Joe L. Curtis, 76, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on August 26, 2026, at 12:50 a.m. Born on July 24, 1950, in Houston, Texas, Joe was the son of Roy Henry Curtis and Marie Curtis Isham, both of whom preceded him in death.
Joe graduated from Frisco High School in 1969 and built a diverse career defined by hard work and dedication. Throughout his life, he worked as a shipping and receiving supervisor, served as a low-voltage cabling supervisor and business owner, drove a school bus, and pursued his passion for horse racing as an owner in the industry. Of his many occupations, driving a school bus later in life brought him special enjoyment and gave him the opportunity to connect with young people.
At the center of Joe’s life was Joanne, his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 58 years. Joe and Joanne spent their lives side by side, working to build a home and family. Together, they raised their two children, Joe and Tracee, and took great pride in the adults they became. As the years passed, their greatest joy was watching their family grow and sharing in the lives of their grandchildren, Clay, Brandon, and Trevor. They have treasured watching them grow from children into accomplished young adults and celebrating their sporting events, educational achievements, and important milestones along the way. The life Joe and Joanne built together stands as a lasting testament to their love, commitment, and devotion to their family.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending the horse races regularly, and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. Some of his most treasured moments were spent taking them hunting and fishing. Known as a prankster and jokester, Joe brought laughter to those around him through his playful and mischievous ways. He was also a loyal and dedicated friend who could be counted on when it mattered most. Through his words and example, Joe instilled the importance of dedication, perseverance, and a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren which will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Joe is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart of 58 years, Joanne Curtis; his son, Joe Curtis, and his wife, Keri; his daughter, Tracee Bane, and her husband, Scott; his grandchildren, Clay Curtis, Brandon Bane, and Trevor Bane; his sister, Linda Bowden; his sister, Jocie Copeland, and her husband, John; and his brother, Mack Curtis, and his wife, Linda. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
