Joe Kendrick passed away February 25, 2024 at the age of 89 in McKinney, Texas. He was born October 13, 1934 in Brady, Texas to Herbert Wesley Kendrick and Gladys Mae Bundick Kendrick.

He was born in Brady, Texas and lived there until he was 12 and the Kendrick family moved to West, Texas where he graduated high school. Joe hitchhiked to McKinney, Texas and got a job with Western Electric before he joined the army. After being honorably discharged, Joe worked for the phone company in Dallas, Texas before meeting Mary Lou on a blind date and after 3 months and 12 dates they got married in Waco, Texas on March 21, 1959. A few years later son, Barry joined the family followed by son, Willie and daughter, Stephanie. The family moved with Joe’s work with the telephone company to St. Louis, Houston and back to Plano where the kids grew up. In retirement Joe and Mary Lou moved to Waco and spent their time at the lake house on Lake Buchanan. Finally moving to McKinney, Texas to be closer to some family.

Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed his time camping and fishing with family. He was always present for his kids and grandchildren. Joe read books, had tea parties, watched, and attended sporting events, played trucks, Joe was willing to do most anything to be with his kids and grandchildren. He could be counted on for anything with his kind heart.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Kendrick of McKinney, Texas; son, Barry Kendrick and wife, Jacki of Houston, Texas; son, Willie Kendrick and wife, Cammie of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Stephanie Kircher and husband, Anthony of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Marten, Daniel, Christine, Clay, Brendan, Philip, and Anya; great grandchild, Peter; sister, Bonnie Osborne and husband, Neal of Colonial Heights, Virginia and other loving family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Gladys Kendrick; brother, Herbert Kendrick, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Kendrick; brother, Billy Kendrick; brother, Jerry Kendrick and brother, Tommy Kendrick.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, 315 North Church, McKinney, Texas 75069. The family invites friends to a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas at 2:45 p.m. on February 29, 2024.
