Joe Covington

Joe Covington of McKinney, Texas passed away March 31, 2023 at the age of 85.  He was born on May 4, 1937 to Robert Lee Covington and Jessie Mae (Lewis) Covington in McKinney.  Joe was a graduate of McKinney Boyd High School.  He served his country proudly in the United States Navy as Engineman 3rd Class from 1955- 1957.  Joe married Beverly Ann (Davidson) Covington on September 19, 1959 in McKinney and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2021.  He worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas for 29 years; retiring in 1996.  Joe was an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding on his tractor.  He most loved spending time with his family.  Joe was a member of Chambersville United Methodist Church in McKinney where he taught Sunday School for many years.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  Joe will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Josh Covington of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Joanna Higginbotham and husband, Danny of McKinney, Texas; granddaughters, MacKenzie and Hannah Higginbotham; brother, Bobby Covington of Sachse, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Covington; parents, Robert “Bob” and Jessie Covington; brothers, James “Sonny” Covington and R.L. Covington; and sisters, Frances Airhart and Wanda Bowers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Joes’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:   https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/joe-covington.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
