IN LOVING MEMORY

Joanne Hanna

Feb 03 1938 - Nov 22 2023

Joanne Delores Hanna passed peacefully surrounded by her family on November 22, 2023 at the age 85 in Allen, Texas. She was born to Hiram and Esther Turner in Denver, Colorado on February 3, 1938. On May 3, 1959, she married her lifelong partner Bob in Arvada, Colorado at the home of her sister Mo, resulting in a marriage that spanned 64 joyous years. They had three children, Robert, Laurie and Mark.

Her loving husband, Bob doted on her and hand in hand they shared many memories traveling, participating with numerous friends in Bingo at the Allen Senior Center, sharing countless meals and strawberry shakes together. She also was known in the family as a card shark and loved playing card games with her outrageously competitive family.

Because of her creative nature, she held numerous occupations throughout her life, specifically utilizing her talent as a seamstress. She created clothes for the family, re-upholstered a motorcycle seat for her son, and made numerous quilts that remain and are still loved and cherished to this day.  She was an excellent cook, and her grandchildren still talk about her famous grilled sandwiches and homemade breads. She showed her love to others by creating full bellies and always had something sweet to offer when anyone visited. Besides feeding family and friends she retired from the Edmond Public Schools Food Service in 1997 after 21 years of service.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Hanna; daughter, Laurie Talarico (Joe); son, Mark Hanna (Susan); grandchildren, Ashlee, Tyler, Audrey and Eric; great grandchildren, Cade, Nora, Jessica and Madeline; as well as her brother, James Turner; and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be loved and remembered by countless close friends throughout the regions of Oklahoma and Texas.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; son Robert and 5 siblings (Fritz, Hildred, Ginger, Mo and Don).

The past two years Joanne was living at Grand Brook Memory Care. The staff at Grand Brook and Anchor of Hope Hospice took excellent, loving care of her and provided support to the family till her final days. We are truly thankful for the staff and medical team who used their healing hands for the last years of her well lived life.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering one hour prior to the service at the funeral service.
