JoAnn K. Avila

JoAnn K. Avila a longtime resident of McKinney, Texas passed away surrounded by family on June 27, 2020 at the age of 65.  She was born on May 20, 1955 to Pedro “Pete” Perez and Maria (Montelongo) Perez in Sinton, Texas.  JoAnn grew up in both Sinton, Texas and Plano, Texas before moving to McKinney, Texas in 1973.  She married Jose Luis Avila on July 14, 1973 in McKinney.  JoAnn worked for 15 years at Venture Plastics as an assembly worker.  She loved listening and dancing to music.  JoAnn was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her family.

JoAnn is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Jose Avila; children, Monica Avila and Luis Avila, all of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jana Avila and husband, Marquez “Rudy” Garza, Jade Hollins, Dominque Trevino, Luis Valentino Avila, II., Shaylssa Avila, Emeli Avila, Isabel Avila, Giselle Avila, Marissa Avila, and Lorenzo Avila; great grandson, Kaiden Garza; mother, Maria Perez of Garland, Texas; sisters, Molly Stone of Grand Prairie, and Carmen Lopez of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Anthony Perez and wife, Anjelita of Mansfield, Texas, Pete Perez, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas and Sonny Perez of Garland, Texas;  numerous nieces, and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Perez.

 In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety, and well-being of our community, only a limited number of 100 guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, and will also be live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on JoAnn’s obituary page.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Joann and show their support to his/her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.

A rosary service will be held for invited guest only and you can watch the live streamed rosary service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

A “Come and Go” visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing. 

Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories and expressions of sympathy on Joann’s obituary page.
