Joan Hegarty Jordan of Allen, Texas passed away on October 2, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born on April 18, 1933 to Robert Emmet and Ruth (Paquet) Hegarty in Stoneham, Massachusetts.  Joan was one of the first female inductees in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  She told everyone she met that she was a proud veteran that served her country while rising to the ranks of a Staff Sergeant.  Joan married Harry Howard Jordan II on September 11, 1954 in Medford, Massachusetts (Boston area).  Together they raised a beautiful family of five children, residing both in Louisiana and Texas. Joan enjoyed starting her day with a glass of orange juice and her crossword puzzle.

She was blessed with a great Catholic education at St. Clement (Medford, MA) and was a 1984 graduate of the University of Houston.  Joan was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sherman, Texas and served on their Rosary Guild and was a member/officer of their Woman’s Guild.  Joan also volunteered at the Perrin Air Force Base museum in Sherman where her picture is displayed with honor. She has been an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church since moving to Allen in 2015.

Joan is survived by her children, Joanne Marie Jordan of Allen, Texas (Roommate & Friend), Major Steven Howard Jordan Sr. of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jenifer Leigh Jordan of Coldspring, Texas, and Christopher Wells Jordan of Sugarland, Texas; her grandchildren, Jodi Anne Hernandez and husband, Judson of Seattle, Washington, Christine Michele Jordan of Chesapeake, Virginia, Amanda Catherine Resnick and husband, Phillip of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Steven Howard Jordan, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Taylor Wells Jordan of Sugarland, Texas and Harry Howard Jordan III of Sugarland, Texas; her brother, David “Davie” Hegarty of Summerfield, Florida, along with her loving K9 companion Mazie (that never left her side), and numerous other loving family and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Howard Jordan II; son, Paul James Jordan; grandson, Robert Benjamin Salinas; daughter-in-law, Merry Jordan; siblings, Clarence Hegarty, Margaret Cheverie, Robert Hegarty, Ruth Caskey, and Richard Hegarty.
