Joan Stanford Jackson passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 99. She was born in Farmersville, Texas on April 12, 1925, to Charles and Lorene Stanford. She married Rayford Jackson on June 11, 1943, and was a loving mother to her children, Dennis and Dianne. Joan lived her entire life in Farmersville. During those 99 years she wore many hats: daughter, sister, friend, wife, super mom, school room mother, Cub Scout, and Brownie leader, bookkeeper, church secretary, shopkeeper, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Joan is survived by Dianne and Wade Forshee, her grandchildren Phil and Jess Forshee, Angela and Josh Frieling, Kristin Jackson, Geoff and Paige Jackson and her great grandchildren Isaac and Savannah Forshee, Lindsey and Taylor Jackson, and Hannah and Katie Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband Rayford, her son Dennis, her parents Charles and Lorene Stanford, and her brothers Cleo and J.A. Stanford.
On Friday, June 7 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., we will gather at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Chapel to celebrate the love she freely gave to each of us and the resiliency, determination and strength she possessed to fully live and experience the joys and losses of a near century. Following her retirement, Joan became an avid reader. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Charles Rike Memorial Library in Farmersville or a charity of your choice.
