Joan Mayo Piper, age 88 of Frisco, Texas passed away February 16, 2016 in Frisco, Texas. She was born November 10, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Virgil and Bess (Renaud) Spidle. In her late teens, Joan spotted a handsome young man at a party and told her friend Annie, “I’m going to marry that man.” And she did. Joan married Richard A. Piper September 16, 1950 in Akron, Ohio and spent the next 65 years loving “that guy.” Joan was one of the most outgoing people you would ever meet. Her 20-year career as a bank teller fit her like a glove. Cars would line up every day at her teller window, just to have a conversation with “J.P.”, as she was known at the bank.
She is remembered with love by her children, Mark Piper and wife Susan and Rick Piper and wife Barbara all of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Piper, Ryan Piper, Brian Piper and wife Kaylee, Andrew Piper, Emma Piper and Siena Piper.
Joan was preceded in death by the one and only love of her life, husband Richard A. Piper; parents, Virgil and Bess Spidle and step-sister, Esther Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Frisco, Texas.
