Joan Marie Thomas of Plano, Texas, passed away on November 21, 2023, at the age of 80. She was born on April 12, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to George Cossin and Claire (Gaffkey) Cossin.
Joan was a proud graduate of Henry Ford High School, where she laid the foundation for a life well-lived. On August 22, 1964, she exchanged vows with the love of her life, the late William Wade Thomas, in their hometown of Detroit. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Professionally, Joan dedicated her career to the field of records retention for insurance companies. She possessed meticulous organizational skills and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Joan had a zest for life that was evident in her love for the outdoors. One of her favorite activities was playing tennis at the Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Texas.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. May her legacy serve as a reminder to us all to live with love, grace, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her sons, Bradly Thomas of Huntington Beach, California and Wade Thomas and wife, Kathy of Tampa, Florida; sister, Doris Ruth Green; and a host of other loving family and cherished friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William Wade Thomas and parents.
