Joan Leatherman Coleman

Joan Leatherman Coleman, age 70, of McKinney, Texas passed away May 14, 2007, in McKinney. She was born November 21, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, to Adam Dahnke and Jewel (Priddy) Leatherman. She was raised in Palmer and Ennis in Ellis County. She graduated from Ennis High School in 1954 and from Texas Christian University with honors in 1958. She moved to McKinney in 1972 where she taught at JW Webb Elementery School for fourteen years. She was instrumental in opening the McKinney office of Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1997. She has been the lead agent of the Coleman Group, consistently on the Honor Roll of Top Producers for the last several years. Joan was a member of First Baptist Church of McKinney, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, and Board of Directors of the Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra. Through the years, Ms. Coleman has been involved in raising funds for numerous charitable organizations in Collin County. She is survived by her son, Jim Coleman and his wife Cindy of Katy, Texas; daughter, Judy Florence and her husband Danny of McKinney; grandchildren, AJ and Bailey Florence and Kyle and Kristen Coleman; sister, Judy Gay and her husband John of McKinney; niece, Jennifer Sproull and her husband Bill of Richardson; nephews John Mark Gay of Denver, CO and David Gay and his wife Arlene of San Antonio, TX; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 18, 2007, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in McKinney. Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home at their conveniece on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
