Joan Marie Bickel, 78, of McKinney, Texas, surrounded by her loving family and friends, passed peacefully into eternal rest on November 9, 2025. She was born on June 15, 1947, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to Joseph John and Mary Louise McClusick.
As a lifelong Christian and a devout parishioner for 23 years at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, Joan’s life was a radiant reflection of her belief in God’s goodness and grace. This legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Living her faith openly and fearlessly, Joan never hesitated to pray or to evangelize, remaining forever firm in her convictions. Her trust in God guided every step of her journey, even in life’s most difficult moments.
Joan was deeply dedicated to her faith community and her country, with her patriotism reflected in her lifelong commitment to serving others. Whether volunteering through her parish, helping those in need, or offering kind words to strangers, she lived her values with sincerity and heart.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Bickel; children, Jacqueline Bickel, Kristen (Jeff) Cooper; three grandchildren, Nicolas, Rian, and Romeo; mother, Mary McClusick; sisters, Jeanne (Bob) Burner, Judy (Fred) Gaines, Jenny (Mark) McDermott; and brother, Joey Miklusak.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph McClusick, and brother Jerry McClusick.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071 on Monday, November 24 at 10 a.m., preceded by the praying of the rosary at 9:30 a.m. Following the Mass, a reception will be held in the church's Community Center, after which the inurnment will take place at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
