IN LOVING MEMORY

Jo Wylie

Oct 07 1923 - Dec 25 2021

Aunt Jo, age 98, went to her eternal home in heaven on Christmas morning, Saturday, December 25, 2021. Aunt Jo was born to Mary Pearl and Archie Wylie in Cedar Hill, Texas. She graduated from Richardson High School in 1940 and attended Metropolitan Business College before experiencing a forty-three-year successful career at Employers Casualty Insurance Company. A resident of Richardson, Texas for seventy years, she was a founding member of Abrams Road Church of Christ and helped establish two additional churches in her community. Aunt Jo loved children and served in her church as a pre-school, fifth grade, and junior high Sunday school teacher. Since 1995, Aunt Jo has been a devoted member of Waterview Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Richardson Altrusa Club.

For the past four plus years, Aunt Jo was an active resident at the Dayspring Assisted Living facility and enjoyed friendships with staff and residents.  The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers for the loving attention they gave to Aunt Jo.

Aunt Jo leaves a legacy of unconditional love and selfless service to others. Always placing family and friends’ needs above her own, she gave generously of her time and money. Many received large and small gifts that expressed Aunt Jo’s thoughtful consideration. From long handwritten letters to small notes, each recipient felt special and valued. She taught by example to pray rather than worry; she loved us well. When once asked why she never married, Aunt Jo responded: “God called me to be a caregiver.”

She was preceded in death by parents, Mary Pearl and Archie Wylie; brother, L. D. Wylie; sisters, Ruth Wylie Blackburn and Dortha Wylie Poole; two nephews and one niece. She is survived by seven nieces, one nephew, three additional generations of great nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will be live streamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/jo-wylie.  The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
