Jo was born February 9, 1934, in McKinney, Texas. She went to her Lord May 30, 2024, at the age of 90.
She was very active in the community, schools and the First Baptist Church of Frisco. Jo often volunteered to support various events and was usually found in the kitchen or concession stands at sporting events, annual fish fry, and pancake breakfast. She was a lifetime member of the PTA where she served in several capacities. Jo participated in the Lions Club and VFW Auxiliary and the Frisco Booster Club. She has been the Frisco Citizen of the Month, Chamber of Commerce Silver Citizen of the Year 1998 and was very active in the Frisco Boy Scout Troop. She was very accomplished at crochet, winning several ribbons at the State Fair of Texas. Jo spent a while hosting daycare in her home and became affectionately known as “Momma Jo” but she is mostly known for her ornately decorated cakes that earned her the name of “The Cake Lady”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Dayton Duncan, her mother and father, Mary Etta (Peg) and Hubert Blazer, two sisters, a brother and two children, son Kevin Lee Duncan and daughter, Baby Girl Duncan.
She is survived by, her sister Allison Recer and husband JA, two sons, James Barrick (Barry) Duncan and wife Gaile of Mansfield, and Daly Bryan Duncan of Frisco. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held at the Berkshire Chapel 9073 Berkshire Dr. Frisco, TX. Friday June 14, 2024, Come and go from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity.
