Jimmy Ray Green

Jimmy Ray Green, age 87, passed away April 3, 2020 at Brookdale Willows Assisted Living in Sherman. He was born to Sidney Lowell “Pete” and Helen Ann Jones Green.

 Jim graduated from Gober High School and enrolled at East Texas State University, earning a Master’s Degree in accounting.

Jim married the love of his life, Shelia Porter in Gober, July 23, 1954. He felt so strongly about serving his country and fellow Americans that he spent his entire career in service to others. He joined the Air Force three months later on October 14, 1954 and served during the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force, in October of 1962, he worked in civil service as an auditor for the Defense Contract Audit Agency for 22 years. After working for the military and defense department for 30 years, Jim decided to get a job as an auditor for Collin County. When he was not working he enjoyed gardening 

Jim is survived by his children: James Green of Cheyenne,Wyoming, Jeff Green and wife Jeanie of Denton, and Sharon Green and spouse Cramer Castle of Gober. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara Winkler and husband Don of Bonham, grandchildren: Jay Green, Jared Green, Robert Hilger, Ashlee Cook, Jeremy Green, Jordan Green, Dalton Castle and Skyler Castle, great-grandchildren: Juliet Green, Elaina Green, Lily Cook, Gage Cook, Lexi Cook, Hayden Hilger, Carter Hilger, Beckett Caylor, Jensen Castle and nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister, JoAnn Woodall.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in Leonard.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Charles Wrenn will be conducting the service.  Interment will follow at Gober Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Green, Robert Hilger, DaltonCastle, Cramer Castle, Don Winkler and Karl Riemer.
