IN LOVING MEMORY

Jimmy Wayne Bright

Mar 23 1948 - Aug 12 2023

Jimmy Bright was born March 23, 1948, in Seymour, TX to James Bright and Ruby Railsback Bright. He was an only child, but he was never alone. He passed away August 12, 2023. He and his family lived in Hope, Arkansas during his elementary school years then returned to Seymour where he graduated from Seymour High School in 1967. In 1996, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York.

After graduation from high school, he joined the Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following active duty, he joined the Army Reserves. In 1996 his unit was activated and deployed to Mannheim, Germany during Operation Joint Endeavor. He retired as Sergeant Major of the 607th Military Police Battalion, Ft. Worth, TX. The men and women who served together in the 607th remain friends and were with him in his final days. Oh, did they have stories to tell.

While still serving his 30-year military commitment, he, as most all Military Reservist do, continued working a fulltime job. Sometimes two jobs. He retired in January 2020 from Transwestern as Vice President, Regional Engineering Manager. He went back to work for Proterra Properties, Inc. in Dallas as Sr. Property Manager and was still working as a consultant. Obviously, he was a workaholic. He also played hard. He was a member of the Lake Fork Anglers and spent Thursdays trying to catch the big one on Lake Fork.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Julie. He is survived by Taylor, Trevor, Jeff, April, Abi, Sam, and Donna.

This family is grateful for the medical care, love, and support from everyone involved in his care at Texas Health Plano Presbyterian Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, beginning at 10:00 AM.
